Check out the Godin ... LGXT ... assembled in the US from Canadian parts ... very high quality ... you will still need a synth like a Roland GR-33 but this guitar plays great ...

You can also buy special MIDI pickups to fit to any kind of guitar. I dunno if these are better or worse than the Godin though. I guess it's at least cheaper than buying a whole new guitar...

I have a Casio strat I bought back in the 80's. It is a nice guitar HSS config and rosewood fretboard. The triggers worked real well.
Fender still makes a roland equip. strat

What about slapping a roland gk p/u on your guitar. That way you have midi capability while playing the guitar you are most comfortable with
