And I get how the video is supposed to be all insightful and a social-commentary on a looks-based society... but am I the only that just gets scared to holy hell by it?

Wait--I dont get it. What exactly "scares" you about the video for "Beautiful"?? I thought it was such a touching video that made me appreciate the song a lot more--really, I was able to listen to the song in a whole new way. The 6 different vignettes in the video were nicely done. Bravo, Christina!

I also thought it was nice how christina shows her versatility in different styles. In "dirrty" she is the center of attention, brazen and practically naked. "beautiful" isnt about her, though, but is about people and their insecurities; she takes a back seat but we are still in for a nice ride.

redball 81 i agree with you. i think she is setting that image 4 herself so she can get recognised. theres people like avril who market themselves as the "punk" who doesnt like the way shes "supposed" 2 act. and thats how we no her. but if christina wasnt like this, then she wouldnt stand out and shed just b another artist. i luv her new album and i think shes doing a good job. shes a fantastic singer. but y do we classify her as a ****?

Despite everybody's slagging of her, Christina DOES write her own stuff (unlike the others)...and she DOES know how to sing.

I dunno,...Time will tell....Only the strong survive, and She's strong....in everyway....hate to say it.....
