"My Big Fat Greek Wedding".....
I, too, am an omnivore..... When left to my own devices I tend to go veggie... but mostly because I hate preparing meat.... I do love my hubby more than I hate preparing meat though ;) and because of his influence i eat more of it now than I ever have.... When I was single I'd think back through the week and if i couldn't remember eating meat I'd go to a restaurant just to get some... wierd, huh?

Why wouldn't most girls be? I'm an omnivore too, but i don't think i could stomach carpaccio...(thinly sliced raw beef)... medium rare beef would be my limit. Any other meat would have to be fully cooked.

I saw a bumper sticker a few weeks ago saying "Eat More Beef you B@stards!" on the back of a ute (Pick-up Truck in America).
Meat is the only real food. My wife's a Vegetarian (has been since she was 6 years old) and when she goes away, I do mixed grills. Rare steak, accompanied by sausages, bacon, pork chops....
You name it, I eat it!

I really enjoy a heaping helping of any veggies(or fruits) I can get my delicate hands on.

either way i dont think it matters! people become vegitarians, in the most part, because they think eating meat and killing animals is wrong. When the fact is, is that millions of poor defenseless field animals ie: mice, rabbits, snakes, skunks, possums, squirrels, gophers and rats e.t.c. are killed every year in the reaping of vegatable, crops, soy beans, wheat e.t.c. i mean at least we meat eaters eat meat that has been killed humanly, i mean a spike thro the head is quicker then being chopped up by wheat and soy bean combines during harvesting season. i've got major views on "veggies" i dont know why, its just one of those things, The usually vegetarian response i get from my views and the facts that i put down are "well, at least we're not killing intentionally." So let me get this straight; not only are animals ruthlessly being murdered as a direct result of your diet, but you're not even using the meat of the animals YOU kill? At least we're eating the animals we kill (and although we also contribute to the slaughter of animals during grain harvesting, keep in mind that we're not the ones with a moral qualm about it), not just leaving them to rot in a field somewhere. That makes you just as morally repugnant than any meat-eater any day. Not only that, but you're killing free-roaming animals, not animals that were raised for feed. Their bodies get mangled in the combine's machinery, bones crushed, and you have the audacity to point fingers at the meat industry for humanely punching a spike through a cow's head? If you think that tofu burgers come at no cost to animals or the environment, guess again. phew! sorry guys, guess i went on abit, but hey just my views. soz if i offened ne one.

Erm. Hrm.
While, I'm not a vegetarian (yet), I have a bit of an issue with the logic you're using. If vegetable and grain harvest is a destructive force toward indigenous animals (which point I won't argue), then why would vegetarians be any more responsible for this fact than non-vegetarians? Because they eat more vegetables? I don't think so. Because they profess to have eaten non-animal food products? No.
In fact, many who are vegetarians are also conscious of ecologically sound agricultural processes, like organic growing or hydroponic gardening. Perhaps you perceive in some vegetarians a quality of superiority that you'd like to dispell? I hope you don't find that in me.
If I were aware of a particular food I consumed that I knew was obtained at the needless cost of animal life, you can bet I would stop eating it and encourage others to do so as well. But I am forced to cope, as either a vegetarian or non-vegetarian would be, with the fact that there are still things in the world I'd like to change.
If I had an answer to a way to non-destructively harvest large amounts of vegetables and grains, I would be glad to share it. But I will be at certain ease with my conscience when I do abstain from the consumption of animal flesh, because nothing is more certain than that I have harmed no one through such abstention.
-- Edit: This parses better when broken into paragraphs. Writing 101.
I don't really eat much meat except for fish...that's my main menu :)

I'm an ex Vegan of 10 years... I've always been predominately vegetarian and only recently began eating meat again and it wasn't an easy transition being vegan for so long and eating meat again! :barf:
I only recently altered my diet due to constant prodding by my latest personal trainer who felt that I would better benefit from a meat diet.
Now I do love dry aged filet mignon, medium rare with an abundance of organic veggies on the side! I am essentially kosher now too (no, not Jewish... :)) so, I'm avoiding some foods as always. I'm very cautious about what goes into my "temple"and I don't use any products that promote animal cruelty. :cuddle:

...I was vegetarian for many years while I was a professional dancer(not erotic for those of you thinking in that direction!)
...but I found it hard to get protein as I don't like soy and mushrooms and legumes and those other 'meat for vegetarian' foods! So I started eating meat that 'didn't have bones in it' and not thinking too much about it ... I still cannot eat meat with bones in it - call me crazy but it reminds me of the little animal friend it once was, guarantee'd appetite killer!!!!

i'm a vegan :) i've been a vegetarian for something like 7 years (i can't remember exactly when i stopped eating meat) and a vegan for a bit over 1 year...
i don't really remember why i become a vegetarian, but i become a vegan because i find milk and eggs gross...i mean, just thinking about them...and then the taste....ewww...but also how gross it is to eat products of chickens, cows, and other animals...

My doctor told me that if I don't eat meat, I would get real sick.
But if that wasn't an issue I probably would be a vegitarian.
