I would pay the $30 a year just for the support. vB is not CRAP! Don't come on here and use this software if you don't like it. I don't like phpBB.. There's so much support and 3rd party mods for vB it's rediculous. Not to mention the number of HUGE sites that use it for their bbs.

I wasn't saying I didn't like it. I was just commenting that the other one if free and this lot would be too much to move

Yeh, moving a database sucks. I did a while ago with UBB to vB on one of my old boards. Luckely they had an import system. :)

I know what you mean. I have to move my websites servers 2 weeks ago. from geocities to tripod. you try moving 13MB from geocities to your computer, then from your computer to tripod on a 56K V.92 modem! no fun unless you compress it (even compressed it was 5.6MB) it took me a while to say the least

Ive tried other boards, nothing beats Vb! Thats why I own 3 of them. nothing compares to their support, the hacks for the forums, and the ability to customize the hell out of it.

Totally worth the money!

$30 for support? lol thats a joke right? for support? lol funny...

the ability to customize the hell out of it
you can customize anything if you just know where things are kept and maybe a lil PHP & HTML, but html & a lil PHP is kinda required skills for being a webmaster (you gotta know what the hell a variable is)

but hey your site and if you have money to burn then yea good for you.

P.S. yea i've tryed vBullitin so i can dis it.

Fogot about this thread..

maybe he still has it subscribed...

Anyway, dude..

$30 a year is nothing. There's great support for everything involved in the board. Even most of the hacks that are available. I didn't say I paid that for support. It's for the license.

Any respectable site wouldn't use a free product. vB is used EVERYWHERE. (I could name countless sites) Yes, PHPBB is cool.. but it lacks in some features that I love in vB

(breaking the silence)
I've got to agree with you John... I've used other similar software, like Ikonboard (both from Member and Super Admin perspectives), and messed a little bit with Yabba...
Ikonboard is a decent (free) alternative with lots of hacks (etc.), however, it isn't layed out as wisely as vB, its not as easy to set up or use, and is a little more difficult to run/manage.
I have already downloaded phpBB, and have a space to set it up, but never got around to it... I will one of these days.

- vB is a good package, again from both Admin and member standpoints.

Yeah, I am a member of (and mod) several boards, but midibuddy is the best and 1 reson is vBulliten is so easy to use
