Hello
I work often at a music studio an i know
that GS and XG
no so many differents between.
i like more XG, because XG has more effects
All of my keyboards are Yamaha. So, my preference would be XG. The sound cards in my PC are also Yamaha. With the exception of one, which is a AWE64. I use sound fonts with it and there are some good GS type sound fonts out there. The main reason that I like the XG format is the ability to control/shape the sound of the instruments using either the onboard controls on my Yamahas or a program like XGEdit. So, my vote is for XG. However, if you are creating music for the masses. Most will not be able to hear what you are experiencing, since most of them do not have XG capibilities.

I agree with AaV. I also use yamaha gear and find XG gives me more scope and range for editing sounds but as he points out if you don't have XG compatible gear then it doesn't matter.
