I thought it would be a good idea if bands using midis in their performances put their set lists up. I'm always looking for something different to do and new stuff. It may give each other a bit of inspiration for new stuff and we could maybe exchange midis that we saw in other set lists.
What do you think.
Anyway here is the set list for "Juice Junkies" in no particular order.

All of mine are sequenced. I find the songs and change them to suit or I sequence them myself if i can't find em. Our set list is about 180 (no I'm not crapping) songs that allows us to play 2-3 nights without repeating or getting to bored
Ronny
08-22-2002, 05:18 AM
I'm the same. All of mine a sequenced but usually I have to tweak the sound, change voices or add bits in. All have been got from the net. Some purchased from
www.hands-om-midi.com
I play with three other lead vocalists, two guys and a gal so I have three entirely different set from casual listening pub entertainment to weddings with their waltzs to dancing 80's disco pub stuff. I will put a full set list on shortly when I get moved house.
I know it's a pain in the asre typing a full set list but I'm always trying out new stuff, some goes well and some not and I think if us duo's and trio's can help each other out it can only improve us.
Later, Ronny.

Some cracking sets here. I know it's a long typing job so if you don't have the time or inclination then post the 10 or 20 songs in your set which go down best.
I'm doin a wedding shortly and am looking for Auld Lang Syne with drums and bass. All I seem to be able to get is crappy versions.
Anyone help.
This is my top ten.
Chillis - By The Way
Robbie - Angels
U2 - Angel of Harlem
Steppenwolf - Born to Be Wild
Have a Nice Day - Stereophonics
Walk Like an Egyptian - Bangles
Walk of Life - Dire Straits
Little Less Conversation - Elivs
Walkin on Sunshine - Katrina and the Waves
and the number 1 slot, the song that never fails to get the whole place jumpin
Daydream Believer - The Monkees
I know some of the songs wouldn't be my choice but it gets the punters going!!
I play 3 gigs a week, I work Mon - Fri 9 - 5 as well, and get £120 per gig to split with my partner. I'm making for myself £180 per week.
Is this the going rate. Some peolpe are telling me we're too cheap. Any thoughts from UK based duos?
Later Ronny.
Nyxan
09-02-2002, 07:24 PM
I do two to three gigs a week depending on the time of year (it gets cold down here) and I also have two other jobs. Pay isn't much-$200-$350 for the duo and $150-$250 for a solo. But to continue the thread I think the best song here at the moment is the smashmouth version of I'm a Believer

There is lots of money in music..I paid for a house with it. Just gigging with a band..We owned our own gear, I found that is a key to profiting...Lots of bands get stuck paying agents and renting large P.A systems...We did everything ourselves and owned everything..

Bigboss40
09-22-2002, 07:11 AM
hey all of you performers, Bigboss40 consist of two guitarist well equipped in Midi and Studio Equipment. We perform Live using SC-880 for accompagnements parts (Bass, Drum, Keyboard etc..).
All our Midis are arranged for LIVE performance, this includes fixes, instrument adjustments to get as close as possible as Real Performance, the addition of all Lyrics (yeah, we have so many songs that I occasionally glance at the Portable PC Karaoke Words during the performance...)This allows us to have many songs without forgetting the words...
So if you are the same, I would be interested in trading stuff. basically, you send your Midis and I will send mine. When we cannot find the root song on the internet, we either purchase it or sequence it ourselves. Since we typically play greatest hits of the season, we must sequence it ourselves from time to time since the song is not out yet on Midi...
Let me know if you want to trade. In this way, we can expand our port-folio faster. I would like to exchange but I hope to get music that is well done, no crap as our songs are typically well arranged...
Let us Know.
Ronny

The best place to swap files would be, as Ronny said, at the midi hub. P.M Dave about membership.

We have a duo playing mostly Madness and other other SKA/Tow tone tunes from the late 70's-80's.
We have also started to play some tunes from the 90's such as Blur and Oasis.
Anybody got any pointers as to which songs get the most requests during a gig? What's popular and what NOT to play?

This is the setlist for my band, Joyride. Yes, it's a set of cheesy covers but we are a cheesy "Chicken in the basket" covers band.
All played live but the reason I'm here is to collect Mids and knowledge to convert to backing track for drums.
Might consider some backing strings and whatnot later on.

I made a packet on St Patrick's day. I had worked on a repertoire of Irish songs - Pogues, etc, and a bunch of old traditional songs, and gigged in a busy Irish pub. Free drinks, too!

hi,
if anybodys listening I form half of a rock duo and get between £150-£200 per gig depending on day of the week, we do pretty much a wide variety of songs from some of the above lists. Essentially I am a guitarist so that means I'm crap on a keyboard music or computer so if anyone can send me a good version of 500 miles by the proclaimers it would be really appreciated. The only ones I can get have verses and choruses in wrong places and they don't drop to the A flat at the end or slow down like they should.
cheers

Yes, I know, old s**t, but do the sums. I do 4 or 5 gigs a week, at around $250(sometimes less for shorter gigs)
and it's soooooeasy to sing
hey there i just joined and yes your right 250 is not bd at all for a nights work, and also the old classics from country do work really well, especially when dealing with a mixed crowd, i play in a band ( 3 piece ) but on occassions i just go with my guitar and my okyweb midi file player have my set list typed in all on a flash card big sound system lighting and put on a great show, and collect my 350euro after 2 hours work, but im constantly on the look out for new material
to bluff not having a full band you need the best sound you can get
top class backing tracks with a proper finish, some tracks off the net are great and others are total crap, im looking for status quo material now but have you or anyone any idea the best place to get it ? this is a great site to have stepped on and hopefully we can help each other out

Later Ronny.
if your interested i will put up my list of backing tracks i use, and ok there old classics but they certainly work for me the bars would be rocking to them stuff like walk of life dire straits, creedence clearwater proud mary, amarillo
blue suade shoes, fields of athenry, stuck in the middle , dancing in the dark by the boss, a little bit of country thrown in too , i have now started doing aslan
david grey, but am looking for more modern material easy to sing and suit a rhythm guitar player , i use the okyweb midi file player i think it can creat a super sound, but mate its all down to the backing tracks at the end of the day, any ideas for me would be greatly appreciated, ok im from southern ireland and get about 280euro and sometimes a bit more for a 2 hour gig including a 10min break between, so look if you need some help from me please ask ill do my best and that also includes anyony else reading this
take care all .
