i've searched all over for a program that can edit a midi's length. i have a sanyo cell phone that takes midis and some are just too long.

if i could edit out just the chorus or something it'd be awesome. do any such programs exist?

Cakewalk is the go! although you might want to find a shareware midi editor because Cakewalk Sonar is alot of money just to trim midi for your phone!

The best program for this I think is Cakewalk
let's you do most anything
if you convert the midi file to a wav
Use Sound forge , has more control of the sound too

But everybody should make his own decision

I too use Cakewalk for this sort of thing. I find it simple when you get used to it. Just insert your markers either end of the section you want to copy. Highlight and copy - save into another file.

Easy peasy

a good one to use in GNMIDI......only drawback is that it's a demo so you have to keep deleting the program the installing again......

I've got an old prog released around 1994, part of Midisoft Presentation Parter 1.05. It is a 16-bit notation program called "Midisoft Music Magic" :-) I can use it to copy a part of a song and paste over and over til the song is long. :-)

sometimes when I edit with anvil studios, the midi file looses some of its instruments. In other words, if I shorten a midi file with anvil, all of a sudden one of the instruments is now a grand piano, and I have no idea how to insure the original instruments are not affected. Does this make sense? Thanks in advance

I'd be happy to edit some of your MIDI files for you, but it would be best if you write to me personally at oneqtcat@juno.com .That way you can send me the files directly. Tell me what you want edited out, I'll do it for you and send them back to you.

Coding Workshop's Polyphonic Wizard will get the job done. Just crop it and then save the file.
