I need to import and enhance cassette recording then export them back to cassette. I downloaded acoustica and seem to have the cassette deck correctly set up (wired up). But now I don't have a notion how to get the program to record my input from cassette. I really need someone to help me, even if it means downloading some other program. Thanks.

Here's an Idea, I don't know if it's what you need or not, but just record whatever you need recorded as an MP3 in music match.....Convert the MP3 to a .wav file (in music match), use any recording program to tweak your .wav file to your liking, get an RCA cable with a 1/8 inch adaptor on the end (radio shack has these)....Plug the 1/8 adaptor to the speaker output on your computor, hook both ends of the RCA adaptor onto the back of your cassette recorder....(I just bought one from the pawnshop for $35.00 for high speed dubbing)....Push record on your cassette recorder and push play on your computor.......Voila......You have your finished product transfered from cassette to computor to computor to cassette again......Hope this helps.....

Set your Box up pretty much as suggested by bigbaddonwong (depending on what sound card you have).
You are probably having a problem recording because you have not selected the correct input source within Acoustica. If you are running into the Line-In on your soundcard, you must tell Acoustica to record from the Line-In of your soundcard.
I use 1 of 3 different programs for audio cleanup:
Steinberg Clean 3.0
Steinberg WavLab 4.00c
or Cool Edit Pro.
Most audio editing software will allow you to record from a selected source (select the source as being the line-in on your soundcard) within the program.
Make sure you have plenty of hard drive space free, as these will be recorded in .wav format, and the file will be very large (probably in the ballpark of 900+MB for 90 minutes of cassette audio).
Use the audio editing software to clean up the audio, then playback using your computer, running from the soundcard 1/8 (or 1/4 depending on your soundcard) inch output to the RCA input of your cassette deck.
I am assuming that what you have on cassette might be original or rare stuff that you can't DL from KaZaa or WinMX? If it is common stuff, I would just download it rather than messing with trying to restore.
Also, you might consider going to CD - not only does it sound better, but CD's are much cheaper than 60-90 minute cassettes. All in all they are much easier to work with, and you can rip or burn them much faster than "real-time".
Ciao~
