24/96 Recording

Does anyone feel that the recording quality of songs done at 24bit/96kz justifies the file sizes? Since the files have to be reduced to 16/44 for CDs, I am wondering if those large file sizes are worth it. I did a 2 minute song that took up 500MB in 24/96!

To be honest.....it depends on what i am working with....
to ADAT,.....48Khz..
if it is just a qucik demo....44.1

i get lower latency when owrking in 24/96 though
