I've always had a Mac. I started out using Mark of the Unicorn (MOTU) FreeStyle, a MIDI sequencing program that isn't too expensive. That was in 1993 or 1994. I use Digital Performer now. FreeStyle does sequencing AND notation, so you can create sheet music of anything you play, or if you import a MIDI file, you can create sheet music from that, too.

I use both pc and mac. The mac is an old laptop that I use live with with a program called Master Tracks Pro. Works great live.

At home I have a pc with Cakewalk. More powerful but I don't want to carry my desk top around.

I want a Macintosh. They're nice better than PC. But I don't know of any MIDI programs work with Mac.

A quick search showed most of the Steinberg programs are available for mac, Qbase etc. Also Band in a Box is a good starting midi program lets you create right away. And look at my post further up ... Master Tracks Pro is still available.

I use a Mac in the studio, running DP4, Reason, Battery, Absynth, and other software synths, but I still keep a PC around for Acid and Gigasampler.
