Hey,
Does anyone know of a way to edit Roland XP80 midi files on a PC. I know how to convert them to simple midi on the keyboard but this is tedious! Is there any software out there that supports the Roland .svq format.
Any opinions appreciated!

I have the XP-60 and i have encoutered the same problem, since I use a computer when I start sequensing a song my midi files stare in .mid, on some of the songs I have found thatI need to use the sounds not in the general midi set so I hav had to add bank select controllers by hand on the keyboard, very tedious, then save them as an .svq file, now my sequensing program won't recognize them so I can edit them if I need to. I use the computer because I am way more profecient in a computer keyboard vs a music keyboard.
any info on this would be extremely helpfull to me also.

I have xp-50 and I've been looking for software to convert .svq to .mid with no luck. I'm not sure if this will help but here is what I do.
I use Sonar to do my sequencing instead of the xp-50 internal sequencer. In Sonar, I have xp-50 instrument definitions loaded and I can choose xp-50 patches. I then save the patch information (xp-50 patch and bank numbers) in the cakewalk file. When I play the cakewalk file, it sends patch information to xp-50. By using this technique, I can sequence midi without touching xp-50. Hope this helps...

Hi All,
Just wanted to say thanks to those who replied to my post! That website has pretty cool stuff for format conversion Newbie but no joy as regards .SVQ files.
I guess I'll have to keep looking.
Thanks again,

Hi!
I'm 5 years late on this!! I hope you haven't forgotten how to do those things..LOL
How do you load those XP definitions? I'm starting from scratch on this, and apparently I have the same stuff as you do.
Any help would be appreciated! :D

Me too, saw your post from ages ago! =)
I have looking for help with this same problem.
I have sequences on 3.5 floppies, formatted on my Roland D-20.
Well the drive on the keyboard broke, now I need to convert my files.
But my PC will not read the disk, says its unformatted.
Did you ever find a way to get SVQ files to MIDI without the keyboard?
I have posts all over the boards, no luck so far.
Thanks
