Gotta say I was always a big Merlin fan. Got a tatoo on my arm of "The Blue Wizard!". (Tried to scan it in but fell on my ass!!) but since LOTR I have to say Gandalf rules!!

I have decided to be nice. I have never seen lord of the rings, and to be truly honest, have never heard of Gandolf or whatever his name is. Is he popular? I am voting for Merlin.

yyyeeeessss, i voted for gandalf. why??? cause lord of the rings is the only book i've ever read more than once, and i like gandalf...
i even had a band called shadowfax, and a spin off duo called the fax. I got nicknamed Merlin by the abba show here, i sequenced some songs for them, they said I was a wizard at it, and nicknamed me Merlin, and it stuck.

I have to say I prefer Gandalf but if you're asking who is the most powerful then history would say that Merlin was all powerful but Gandalf had restrictions. Merlin could've flown off that tower but Gandalf couldn't.

I think that Merlin's true potential was never really shown. It is such a pity what Disney had done. I feel that Merlin has a whole range of untapped power that Disney would not let him display. He never truely was in a battle, so those skills remain unshown.

I can't believe I missed this thread... just stumbled onto it. In the circumstances (my lateness) , I'll vote for Merlin, wizard to King Arthur of Tintangel (is that right?). Historical records indicate that there may have been a Tintagel castle, and maybe even a King Arthur and Knights of the round table. Legends of Merlin the Wizard are likely to be somewhat overstated I'm afraid.

Of course, Gandalf, is pure unadulterated fiction. Damn good books though. The best character is Golem, of couirse. Looking forward to seeing the second movie in the trilogy, scheduled for this coming xmas, I think.

When I think Wizard, I think Merlin. Gandolf is just hot right now because of Lord of the Rings...Huh, the guys on the board both seem cool, but Imma have to go for Merlin!
