"The administrator has restricted postings to one every 50 seconds"
I recently got this message and my lengthy reply was lost.
I am on a dial-up line and so to minimise cost, I open up lots of windows and then start off replies to several, but I disconnect before sending. I reconnect when I'm ready to send replies. That way I minimise my costs.
Sometimes this means that I can send several replies in close succession.
Due to this restriction, I have entered lengthy replies and then lost them.
Causing users to lose replies and increasing his costs (due to having to wait 50 seconds between sending replies) is not a good marketting strategy.
Wouldnt you agree?

That stinks Gandalf...
It isn't a conspiracy against you though.
It is meant as a junk post deterrant - people will get bored quicker if they are junk posting, having to wait a minute between posts. Proven fact.
Most posts are well though out and well constructed, and take at least a minute or so to compose. Sorry that happened to you bro, the few that can't do it the right way keep wrecking things for the rest of us...

I have never heard of that rule. When was it brought in, and what was the main reason? I know it was to deter junk posts, but if you find the person junkposting, couldnt you just ban them, or isnt it that easy?

Sorry about that man.. I've lost long messages before, but it was because the software (not this site) took a dump and I when I pressed back everything reloaded. I dunno why explorer saves the data sometimes and sometimes it's reloaded. :confused2 I didn't think of it in your situation though.
sara, try posting two messages in two or the same thread within 50 seconds. You'll get the error message. The point is to prevent people from posting 5 messages within 1 mintue. You figure at the least a person would have to be on the site 5 minutes to post 5 things this way.

Yeah, I figured it was to do with junk posting.... seemed a weird rule.
Anyway, I have learned my lesson.
I recovered my sense of humour...

Had the same problem myself but its a small price to stop the junk posts. The fifty second rule allows me to think of smarter replys--why do I hear sniggering in the backround

Talking of Tasmanians.... They have the same environment, attitudes, pastimes and long lonely nights as they do in the Western Isles of Scotland., ie big desolate islands, with few people and lots of sheep farming.
So what to you give a Tasmanian farmer for xmas...
Wide brim wellington boots and vecro gloves.
Understand?
And with all this talk of insanity.... I have to start a new thread... go there now... and add your comments
