this may not be the right section to suggest this, but i thought it would get the most coverage here. This is a midfile forum, and competitions are running hot(thnx Theartisan) at the moment.
What about a competition along these lines
1. The artisan or tpearl5 pick a song(not too involved) and make available an mp3 of the song for download.
2. Set a timelimit for contestants to create a midifile of the song.
3. have a few different sections, ie full sequence, drums and bass only, ( some programmers only lay drum and bass tracks for use in their duo), etc.
4. 3 levels : beginner, intermediate, expert.
:example only:
beginner prize MBcash 1st-$100 2nd-$50 3rd-$25
intermediate 1st-$300 2nd-$100 3rd-$50
expert 1st-$700 2nd-$400 3rd-$200
this would make those who felt their files were better than average enter them in the harder categories(greed, wonderful ain't it). It would turn out to be a pretty big competition if done this way, but if viable, suggestions are welcome...
