An avatar is a picture that u can put under ur user name. Maybe u dont have ur settings correct to be able to view them or you just havent waited long enuff for the page to download.....if in doubt always read the FAQ at the top of the page....

I use several, Paint shop pro, WWWGIFA.EXE , it's free, you can download it from tucows. that MicroSoft thing, and some times i just cut the pic together.

You can take a picture of something you want in a gif file, then edit it. its not hard.
This one is your all you spider poeple...

All avatars posted here are for the taking, and editing if you wish. This is the point of the thread. For those who are not great at making Avatars. Also the MB’s will be awarded to the most original {made by you} avatar posted here. Mine are not in the contest! Any gif will do. In some cases the maker of the avatar may have to email the GIF file to you. For some reason when I download the pictures from here, I get them in BMP file only.

well the program i use is adobe photoshop and image ready. the effect of the fire i used by combining a mixture of colours and using i think it was something called the water effect. and then with the little glare of light you see i used something called lighting effects....

I was actually thinking about taking a break from the Scottish Kilt, and going with a Japanese Samurai theme… Maybe some anime something or other… Same basic 'feel' as I have now, overall.

I have the same problem...
You can use Opera (or Netscape too I think) to save the image properly.
With IE, even if you change the extension to .gif, it won’t work right…

I guess the rules have changed, as Zel said, the avatars now have to be 75 x 75 and 20k is the max you can have in an avatar, but i will still accept those who have been entryed to date

i once asked her that..she actually converted an .avi clip which she downloaded from a website so the quality's pretty good to .gif and then reduced the frames to around 100..her avatar's bigger than 20kb cuz she entered it in an avatar contest if i'm not mistaken started by u and won it thus enabling her 2 use it as her avatar..

i can never make an avatar as good as hers :(

I've still got the old one - was getting tired of looking at it... I might get back to it eventually...

I remember her explaining how she did it, and it's really not that hard... My new one was taken from an AVI file...
What baffles me, though, is how she compressed the file so much without any apparent loss of video quality... I don't rememeber the exact filesize, but I remember it was a lot smaller than I thought it would be.
