Just starting working on this. The main page definitely needs re-working after years of being the same.
http://johnsworld.com/new
I need some opinions
What kind of suggestions do you mean? Content or Design?
The Design is okay, it's not as dark as your old Version. But what about to set the border around the document null.
body {
padding-top : 0;
padding-right : 0;
padding-bottom : 0;
padding-left : 0;
margin-top : 0;
margin-right : 0;
margin-bottom : 0;
margin-left : 0;
}
I like websites which are the full width ...

Not to bad! I like the lighter version vs the black. I think black has its place in the design world but my personal preference is crisp, clean, bright. That is only a women's point of view. Take it for what it is worth.

the border is hot... but what time of suggestions are you looking for...... or are you finished.

i'd suggest adding a feather effect to the edges of the border.

The Blue border is not very nice. Other than that it is quite OK.
May be U could add an auto-update time on the top of the page.

it's very professional.....the blue of course making it corporate-like.
*LOL* almost CNN-like!!:):):)
I quite like this one, its very.....non-indimidating, non-business-like.
Does that make sense?? :)
Otherwise it is a great so far.

AdvancedFlea - You can get Photoshop version 6 or 7 on Kazaa (Lite :D)
You could have it over night if you have broadband... By next Memorial Day if you're on dialup connection.
Fairly big (over 160mb) for v7 I've seen there.
I've got 6, never got around to grabbing 7 yet, although John gave it a great review in a thread I've seen around here somewhere.

Artisian, Yeah I have Kazaa ("P2P The way It should be!" I think that means 'FREE!!!') but I Only have Dial-up :( allthough we have 2 phonelines so I guess at 160MB i could just leave my pc online constantly for a few days. BTW do you monitor all the posts I make? lol, you seem to be in every Thread I make or reply to! lol

Well.. yeh, he just replies to all the threads.. haha
flea, I downloaded off of kaza myself. If I had some time (and cd-r's) I would mail ya a copy.
The little review I wrote is in the computer related forum (I think) I was demonstrating the 'healing tool'
Nick, yeh, I don't like that pic in there either. I was thinking of something else using that same blue color and tv lines.
Suzanne
08-14-2002, 12:22 PM
I dunno, the pic could be nice, the TV lines just make it look too fuzzy..maybe just a little more clarity?I agree with Chris on adding the feather effect and I love the blue...my fav colour:)

Artisan I said the same thing 2 tperl in a personal message! cuz I lost the lottery too (Wah Titty) lol. yeah, I started downloading it but it canceld it's self (Double wah titty)
theARTiSAN
08-16-2002, 04:23 AM
Double wah titty? NO WAY! Losing the lotto is bad enough!
For KaZaa:
Did you try to "search for more sources" (right click on the download item) or "resume" - or did the download actually cancel (causing it to have to start all over) - that sucks!
I started on it the other day... I've got 6 whole MB downloaded already... :thumbsup:
advancedflea
08-16-2002, 02:39 PM
yeah, I did try that, and I did the "search more" thing but in ne case, my friend who has super-duper-highspeed (250MB/PS) downloaded it for me. and yeah, DOUBLE "Wah titty!"
Take my advice, if there are wasps in the lawn when your mowing it with a flymo hover-craft lawn-mower and you have a mower with a grass-collector on it, DONT attepmt to mow the wasps, they won't get caught in the blades, they get sucked up into the grass box and very pi$$ed off and they hurt when you try and EMPTY the grass box! (that really did call for a wah-titty, but instead i shouted "Oh ****!!!" and ran, i'm alergic to wasps)

On a different note, I finally did end up getting Adobe Photoshop 7 downloaded... It's very nice, and worth the several days it took me to download it on my lovely lil dialup connection.
Also just finished up my Cakewalk Sonar 2.0 download - no official reviews on this one yet.
I'm going to give my bandwidth a little rest now - just downloaded about 350mb worth of different stuff in the past week... That's nothing, compared to my cable days...
But me 'n my trusty 56k modem have been through a lot together.
I've downloaded 4 Windows Operating systems and the complete 3-CD Mandrake Distribution of Linux - all with my trusty 56k.
I really need cable back, cuz I'm getting very old, very fast waiting for all these 2.45kbps downloads to finish up...

Yeah, my friend has broadband (200MB/PS) and he downloaded adobe photoshop 7 and microsoft office XP for me. I have a cheap-and-cheerfull 56K V.92 trusty little thing that is. eMachines origonal modem too!
I have been an idiot. i got an e-mail telling me that i had a message on a different buddy board, and like an idiot, I deleted the god dammed e-mail. is there anyway i can tell which baord i got a reply on? i posted a request and i have a horrible feeling it was that. (No I am not useing outlook express. i am useing AOL online E-Mail and there is no "recyle bin" to speak of)
theARTiSAN
08-20-2002, 04:49 PM
Ugg...
Damn...
You could try to look through the Active Topics, if the reply was posted in the past 24 hours, the topic should be considered active.
If you remember who the email said there was a reply from (or at least part of their user name, you could run a search by user name for posts from yesterday or newer...
You said you didn't, but if you remembered any part of the thread name, you could run a search by that. Or, if you think that it was a reply to a request, you could run a search for your thread in the request forum (search using any text you can remember from that thread as the criteria)
Otherwise, doesn't AOL (which I despise, but that is neither here nor there :D) have a deleted mail screen? Kind of like a recycle bin - where the stuff stays in there until you delete it out?
You've got nearly 130 posts, so I'd hate to see you have to check them 1 by 1. I hope one of these suggestions works:rolleyes:

Oh yeah!.... I see I am an Addict now. Hmm!.
As for moderator etc.... Well, I can be pretty dedicated, but I think you guys are doing a slendiferous job and don't need the help of anyone else, so I wouldn't dream of trying to be nice and asking to help you out. I am so in awe of you all....
OK, so I'm damn lazy too.
Keep up the good work guys. It's appreciated.
