anyone copped this virus yet? I've got two emails now, but my server, austarnet, bless their lil heart, screen all my mail for viruses, and they delete them before i get my mail. Then my agent sends me an email saying how everone is sending the virus to him, and to stop it, but he's special, cause he has a virus scanner that hasn't been invented yet.......**** I HATE AGENTS

Hey Merlin, I'm pretty sure that bear virus is a hoax.
If thats the same teddybear virus you talked about in this thread
http://board.midibuddy.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3585&highlight=virus
maybe your memory is going, I put it down to 1 of 2 things
1. watching all that linedancing has put you into a some kind of hypnotic trance
2. drinking too many magic potions late at night:rolleyes:

i thought merlin was the only one that did that
you two need to stop drinking magic potions well if you find one that make women to be attracted to me and make me cute please send one down this way.

this virus is not the teddybear virus. no i'm not drinking TOO much potion. Yes I'm going mad.
Actually, this virus sends itself by attaching itself to your emails, yadayadayada, but it also infiltrates your system and sends private information, passwords, for example, to people in your address book. This is not a hoax, my server has deleted 2 before they got to me.

yeah proably my server caught them too plus emails that carry viruses are deleted and tourtured on the spot if one reaches me.

i know alot about hacking and viruses and the "BugBear" virus is real....go to www.mcafee.com and the W32/Bugbear@MM is at high risk...so be careful about checking your mail and watch out for W32/Klez.h@MM becuase the risk of getting that one is rising.......goddam email worms!!!:flamemad:

I go through austarnet, any time there is a virus in an email, they still send the email, but with the message telling me that i had a virus deleted, and what the virus was

It's a pain in the butt virus. If you use Outlook with a preview pane, it can be activated by appearing in the preview pane. The attachment itself can be trapped by antivirus, but the message is in HTML and can can cause other problems with your email. It also can move thourgh your network and if your printer starts dumping pages and pages with a line of wing dings or non sensical chararcters, it has also recieved the virus. Power off & on should do the trick. We've had about 4 printers with this so far..... :hit:

someone should invent a virus that attaches itself to viruses only and destroys them.........wait, then it'd suicide, wouldn't it?

there is sumthin like that...cept i dunno if they "attach" themselves to the virus. i know they r called anti-viruses...lol

W32.Bugbear@mm is real - and Artistdude is right - watch out for it. I received an infected email yesterday, but my 'excessive safety measures' spanked it.
Symantec has released a removal tool you can get at http://symantec.com/
Or if you don't feel like looking for it, I've attached it here.
I've also included the removal instructions saved into .txt format.
Ciao~

Good thinkin' man. Computer Associates (Mcafee) advise if your antivirus is not up to date, updating it after you have got Bugbear, won't help it. You need a fix like Artisan has provided....
