I always thought Cubase was more digital audio and stuff and Cakewalk more Midi oriented altough you can do both with m. Am I totally wrong here or? But still, I use Cakewalk.

I'd agree with ikkenederik (for the second time today!!)- If you're working with midi, use Cakewalk. If digital audio recording is what you want to do, use Cubase.
If you only want to work with one program to do both, then it depends! Cubase is more geared towards the pro recording market. If you just want to make demos at home, and are looking for an easy to learn program, go with Cakewalk.
It took me a looong time to work out how to use Cubase properly.

personaly i use cakewalk, its more simple i think
but ive heard cakewalk was more use in the usa, whereas cubase was the european liked software !

Cakewalk Sonar has all the midi editing tools you will more than likely ever need, as well as the ability to add a couple of audio tracks to the file. I've been using Cakewalk since ver 3 and have yet to find a problem with it. It always works.

The best thing to do would probably be to get a copy of both (demos of course ;) ) and try them out; then choose the one that you like best and is the easiest to use.

When using cakewalk, do you have to have any midi devices hooked up, or can I just use my mouse and keyboard.

I Use Cakewalk....And If you Use A P2P to download Audio, you can Mix the Audio, Combine them into one track, Screw them, chop them , slow them down speed them up and lots more....Cakewalk.....But I don't know how to make midi
