If you look in the archives of this newsgroup you'll find replies
to this question that note that OMS is obsolete, etc, and you
should use FreeMidi from www.motu.com. However, OMS works just fine
on classic macs, I've never tried FreeMidi, as they want you to fax
them a nondisclosure agreement, etc. I wrote a wrapper over the OMS
stuff which converts an old mac into a dedicated midi processor, e.g.

GetMidiEvent()
compute
MidiOut()

which I'd be happy to send to you. Good luck!
