ADAT in to DIGI Hardware

I have a ProTools MIXplus system with 888/24 I/O

Is the DIGI ADAT Bridge the ONLY way to get ADAT inputs (for GigaStudio in
my case) into the hardware??? It seems like a LOT of money to spend for what
other manufacturers throw in with their audio interfaces for a lot less
money.

Let me know if there are other options (yes, I know about SPDIF in, but I
want the multiple channels of the ADAT input).

It depends on if you want the ADATs to run *with* PT, which is a fairly
pointless feature. If you just want to transfer multitrack you can use any
other interface with its support software and then import the track files
into PT.
I use a MotU 2408 to get up to 24 tracks of ADAT or DTRS in sync to HD and
then take it from there. There are cheaper solutions if you don't need
DTRS.

What I want to be able to do is get multiple tracks of GigaStudio audio into
ProTools (or Dig Perf, or Logic). My hardware though is ProTools MIX on a
MAC.
My audio card on the PC running GigaStudio has 8 tracks of audio with the
ADAT optical type output, but only 2 with SPDIF.

So if I'm running a mix, I'd like to be able to have all 8 tracks of Giga
coming into audio tracks in whatever audio program I'm using at the moment
through the DIGI hardware I already own.

Given that constraint you can either transfer the files via Ethernet or
CD-R.
You can waste a lot of money and time trying to get a digital audio
transfer in sync and under machine control and then it will only be real
time. If you want to process the tracks in PT transfer the audio to the Mac
HD, if you don't then use a hardware mixer.
