You might try the Norton website for more info

I think it's http://www.symantec.com

or something similar

Idiots, there's no such file as system32.exe. Delete it.

Idiots? Wait, mod_bigb, it is you that is the ignoramus. There are other OS's out there than your own, you should know. system32.exe is a critical application on Windows XP that can not be deleted during system operation. If he does delete it by any means, the operating system will cease to function properly.

System32 is a folder. Dude, if you have a CD Writer(if you don't have buy 1, it costs as little as 20 sterling). Make backups of any files, mp3(copy them as data, not audio), pictures or whatever you need. Insert your XP cd rom, reboot and format. The wizard that guides u is very good and u don't have to be a computer wizz to format!:)

On Windows XP, System32 is both a folder and an application. on Windows 98, System32 is just a folder. unrealfighte(r), You are correct about the procedure lostsoul may have to commence.

In the future, you should include your system info when asking support questions ;)
What Operating System, what brand of Virus protection, version, etc... It helps.

You should check with Symantec (etc) when you receive notifications of infection...
When the notification comes up, try to take note of what the name of the virus is (or click on any more information links provided) - sounds like it could be backdoor.miranda, but your going to want to be sure...
More on backdoor.miranda: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/backdoor.miranda.html

Many of the viruses/trojans and even some Adware/spyware components can't be deleted easily. Many require you boot into Safe-Mode, or using a boot disk, or boot into an alternate OS to scan and delete.

Linux always has been a good OS to help fix broken Windows Systems (lol):
tomsrtbt is a bootable mini-distribution on a floppy - lots of great utility on one disk!
http://www.toms.net/rb/

Or there is Knoppix - a Linux distribution runs completely from a bootable CD: http://linuxiso.org/distro.php?distro=44

p.s. Zandro is right.
You don't want to go indescriminately deleting files when you don't know what they are... That could make a recoverable system unrecoverable.

Ya i didi most of that, and i have a reasonable knowledge of computers and stuff, but the annoying part is that i cant reinstall my XP cuz the idiots at the place i bought the comp from, didnt gave me a cd of it, so i cant reinstall it from anything, and if i ask them, they charge me for it,:hit:
