Are there any freeware midi editors around? Wouldn't mind trying one out. :D
Pro tools free seems to be a faily good free product

AnvilStudio is a good program too. There are optional accessories that are not free but in the free software, you can do lot of things: edit+create midi files. Use the audio lab to see sounds waves, etc.

Try noteworthy composer for something basic.... freeware for about three weeks then they want money

noteworthy composer is pretty good because its simple. the demo version isn't that bad either.

I agree with gayatri that Anvil Studio is a great MIDI sequencing program as well as a great editor. I also use it as my main MIDI player.

i also use noteworthy....it's great and the demo is quite useful...

There is also a MIDI-only, free version of emagic's Logic, called Logic Fun. Very nice if you later decide you want to do more than MIDI - and then you can upgrade to something a little more advanced.
