Sound Fonts?

Hi!
as i understand, sound-font files can replace the sounds that the computer
uses to play midi files.
can any1 please give me links to places where i can find sound-font files?

The most important SoundFont site, The Sound Site, has been shut down for unknown reasons (at least to me). The Sound Site was THE archive for SoundFonts, and now most are nowhere to be seen. I feel that the SoundFont community is officially dead, with very few resources left, which totally stinks.

I did a goggle search on "The Sound Site" and it came up with this URL.

Minn. I found NO fonts, buts its an interesting site.

I too know of that site, but that is not the one I am speaking of. www.thesoundsite.net appears to be non-existant.

To do this, you need soundfont compatible hardware (Creative Labs
SBLive/Audigy/AWE cards), or some kind of software soundfont player, or a
plugin software sampler that supports soundfonts (if you are using a
plugin-capable sequencer)

www.hammersound.net is getting a bit old now but still has some decent
content.
