How do I get 2 keyboards in separated MIDI inputs, with each 16?
I like to have two times 16 channels with 16 tracks each. So far I
have 32 channels with a MERGE of the 2 keyboard inputs in 2*16 tracks.
Now the question is if it's possible to split not only the channels
but also the inputs? I use Cakewalk, Home Studio 2002.

.......and in reply I say!:

How have you set the system up to get what you already have? Do you
have two MIDI interfaces?

Cakewalk is weak in this area. It merges input ports and selecting two
input ports simply allows more Channels, which is what you appear to
have. So you can't have true independence at play-record time, only at
playback.

Get MIDI Ox. It's free for non-commercial users. It allows routing of
stuff all over the place. You can send in and out, with Ports and
Channels sent as wanted. It gets a bit messy, because you have to use
MidiOx to route to CW for recording, and also to the various other
ports for playing. I wish CW would look at the inclusion of MIDI Ox
engine into their programme. The author works (worked at least) for
CW!
