View Full Version : how to set-up a steel guitar to produce non-plucked sounds?

seems like the Nashville session men and studio engineers have figured
out how to set up a processing string for steel guitar, that allows a
slow rise time of the tone. IE, it doesn't sound like a plucked
string.

How is that done?

All kinds of ways. Volume pedal, noise gate with slow attack, compression
with slow attack, envelope follower.

Usually with a volume pedal. Pick the note with the volume down, and then sweep the volume pedal to volume on and the note will
sound like you describe.

Dude, he's playing guitar, not driving a space craft through a
time warp. What's with the science fiction lingo ?

Yep, and with a real nice volume pedal as well. Cool sound. Maybe add some
appropriately delay.
