Hi,

I got a new mainboard in my computer (Matsonic MS8157E) and I was amazed
when I tried to connect my keyboard : no midiport , allthough the
specifications of the board implies that there is a game port / midi port
present.

The mainboard has an AC97 soundcard integrated. I tried to disable that card
and plugged a SoundBlaster card with midi port in my PC. However while
installing that card an error occurd saying that a SoundBlaster card
couldn't be found.

I'm desperate to find a solution. Maybe someone can help me out here ?

Thanx in advance, Albert

Yes, computers are now being made without the midiport facility.
But, looking at
http://www.matsonic.com/ms8157e.htm
it does say:
"BUILT IN AC97 PCI AUDIO
Supports built-in AC97 Digital Audio.
Dual full-duplex Direct Sound channels.
H/W Sound Blaster Pro DOS Legacy compatibility.
FM Synthesis for legacy compatibility.
Supports game or MIDI port "

Let's have a look at the manual. Plenty in BIOS setup about
allocating resources to the 'Onboard midi or game port'. But where is
it? A mystery!

OK. You've been through BIOS setup disabling anything to do with
onboard sound? Now, start in Safe Mode - hold F8 while booting. Go
to Control Panel/System/Device Manager. Again, remove any references
to AC97 sound. Reboot, and try the SoundBlaster installation again.
