:why is it that "defenders" of Cobain always seem to resort to pointing

well I guess it's all about having an open mind. what it is is that kurt's
style band went beyond that commercial album they produced, you can see that
in the rest of Nirvana's music there is a lot more to Nirvana than the A
side of nevermind. yeah I agree, big deal he topped himself, but kurt had a
lot of influences that came through in his playing, and as a self professed
non-professional musician, his music was raw and stripped down, and his
'solos' took the piss out of the verse chorus verse solo verse chorus song
construct yet he could write the most brilliant of these himself. a
contradiction, as was the guy himself hence the whole angst thing.
everythings ****ed but i'm part of it and milk it . . . grunge came along,
what were there then? spandex hairbands and metallica . his lyrics left a
lot to the imagination. most of the music i've ever been interested in
paints pictures for me, otherwise it bores me. i also find average people
rather boring as well. do you like Carmina Burina ?

it's like collecting paintings or sculpture, you either see it or you go
with the mainstream and say 'i don't understand, therefore it sucks'. i
personally don't like cezanne but think goya was a genius, after seeing a
goya exhibition my opinion of picasso has lessened a little. we rearrange as
we go. maybe the death thing has a lot to do with it with musicians, what
would hendrix be doing now ? his style was changing towards the end, would
he have become another santana or eric clapton and have fizzled in the
seventies as well. who knows. everything comes in waves, the early nineties
was a good period musically as far as i'm concerned.

you are probably not a sonic youth, pixies, or even talking heads fan.
oh and he played a jaguar and had holes in his jumper and his jeans.

i think randy california is an underrated guitarist.

well heck, I guess that just about makes my point. you don't make much
of a reply but more of the same "no, really, you just don't get it,
curt was [insert your own superlatives here]" drivel that I pointed
out. I dont get all into Nirvana. sorry. That does not make me stupid
or intellectually inferior. my own writing will probably prove me
stupid and inferior (heh).

What bit of Camina Burana should I like or dislike, the fake Wagner
bit of O Fortuna or the rest of it? And would liking or not liking it
make me average and boring or not? and what the heck does that have to
do with not being a Nirvana cultist.

to tell the truth, I greatly prefer artifacts to artworks. Tut's gold
deathmask, or the intricately worked stained glass in an old European
cathedral are more pleasing to my eye than a hundred Picasso's.
doesn't mean I can't appreciate a great painting.

you'd have to try pretty hard to get me to argue with the last
sentence, really. You've got a point.

and no, I am not a sonic youth, pixies, or even talking heads fan.
which means exactly what?

>oh and he played a jaguar and had holes in his jumper and his jeans.

he played a jaguar? uh, ok, so what. but as far as the holes in his
clothes, any adult who makes a decent living yet wears clothing with
holes in it is definately making a statement. something along the
lines of "I am an immature jackass"
