Maybe other folks already knew about this, but it was news to me. It
looks like Telefunken USA is gearing up to offer an entire line of
microphones and other studio products.
http://www.telefunkenusa.com/products/

I'm really curious to see what their studio electronics products will
look like. Damn.....I hadn't planned (or budgeted) to attend AES in
NY this year, but it looks like its gonna be a show full of great
gear. I've gotta crunch some numbers and see if I can squeeze in a
quick east coast trip.

I have two words for you, son: "Jet Blue." Works great, doesn't cost
much, gets you there on time. Save money and diseases by staying in
New Jersey and take the bus or ferry into Manhattan.

Sure, but you then spend as much on the freaking shuttle from JFK as you
did on the flight. I'll take the train. It drops you off right at Penn
Station, a short walk from the convention center.

Hey, ever since they cleaned up Times Square, the cheap hotels there have
actually been made safe. Not clean, but safe. And that's enough for me.

Having stayed at the $25/night Manhattan hotels with the needle exchanges
in the lobby, I can attest that there are a lot of different ways you can
get diseases (and parasites) in bad hotels.

Yeah, but they fly out of Long Beach. Just try getting a Super Shuttle back
home from the Long Beach airport.

What do you think they cost to build? I doubt it's anywhere in the
vicinity of the sales price. This means they don't have to sell many
to make a profit. I imagine there will be world wide sales for these
puppies. I know at least one wealthy studio owner who'd spring for a
couple, if he were told they are the best available.

Obviously not meant for the project studio crowd but a real studio can
buy some of these and make back the money in rentals in no time.

I suspect the V-72 and V-71 DI are the tab-funkenwerk
products. I can't click to them, nor to the so-called M-1073
and M-10. What could they be? tape recorders?

but check out the aloha shirt. I want one!

When you're building $20,000 mics, how huge a demand does there need
to be? Five a year is probably enough to pay development and setup
costs and make a little money. Ten a year and they're paying the rent.

Not sure about M-10 but V-72, V-71, and "1073" are all numbers
associated with revered preamps. Well M-10 is the Martek, but
Telefunken USA souldn't building that.

That's the real deal, but would you expect anything else from the
makers of $10,000 microphones?

Do they have Trader Joe's grocery stores where you are yet? If you
work there, you get an aloha shirt for free. It's the uniform.

Any real reviews of thier 251 available yet? I saw a few ad-hock ones
on some of the forums, none of it good.
