How to pitchbend more than 2 semitones?

Hi,
How can I do a pitch bend of more than 2 semitones using my midi
software? I need to do a 3 semitone bend and also some guitar whammy
bar octave dives - 12 semitones.

What do I need to tell my software? The maximum bend I can do is only
2 semitones.

I'm using Yamaha XG softsynth, Evolution Sound Studio Pro II and
XGEdit 95.

I'm quite pleased with it but the pitchbend stuff needs to be sorted.

It's a setting in the synth, not in the sequencer. If there is a
Pitch Bend Range parameter in your synth patches, that's what you
need. Sometimes, unfortunately, there isn't.

RPN 0 will adjust pitch bend range on Roland GS and Yamaha XG
compatible synths, among others.

Using XGEdit, use the Controller panel, the box right next to the
software wheel control which says "Modulation" by default. Change
that box to Pitch Bend.

Then, you can change the "pitch" knob below that to change the pitch
bend range. You can also set amplitude and filter to change when you
use the pitch bend, as well as LFO effects.
