Hi
I'm new to home studio config with a PC, so forgive me if this question
seems trivial to you.

I want to buy a new PC and set it up with an MIDI interface card
(contemplating a Roland MPU-401AT or Korg OASYS PCI). But I also would like
to install a "normal stereo" PCI sound card for gaming purposes etc.
(contemplating a SoundBlaster Audigy 2). Operating system will be Windows XP
Pro.

Can anyone tell me if this config with both cards has any generic config
problems attached to it? Do I need to use any specific software or hardware
config setting, or will it just work straightforward?

And more specifically: Can anyone tell me if any of the above mentioned MIDI
interface cards are a poor choice for a home MIDI studio. Is there something
better out in the market? I don't mind spending extra money; first priority
is for the gear to work hazzle-free.

Thanks in advance

/P
