Using Cubase with Roland PC 200

Hello,

I am a newbie with Cubase VST 5.0. I hooked up a Roland PC 200 MKII
keyboard to my laptop that is running Cubase (750MHz, 256MB RAM). I
am using a Uno MIDIxUSB converter to connect the keyboard to the
laptop.

When I hit a key on the keyboard, the "In" Indicator on Cubase's
Transport bar lights up, but the "Out" indicator does not. I have
enabled the "MIDI Thru" option on the MIDI System setup dialog.

I can't hear anything on the computer nor does any of the notes show
up on the screen when I hit the MIDI keyboard keys. I have set the
Neon as the target VST instrument.

Can someone help me figure out what I might be doing incorrectly?
