You mean because it's a limiter/compressor/leveler?

Well, I find the so called limiter in the Compellor to be useless, or rather I
should say unpleasant when used, & a compressor to me is something quite
different than a leveler, even though a leveler uses compression to arrive at
its result. I definitely hear it attempting to limit, & I don't hear it
leveling (when set up right) which is what I like about it, & partly why I
wouldn't call it a limiter/compressor.

Actually there is a limiter circuit switchable in or out, but with no other
controls. It sounds very bad when you hit it with music, makes a piano attack
sound like preamp clipping. So, in a way, you're right, it doesn't do limiting.
It does, however, possess a limiter circuit.

The limiter function on a Compellor is strictly for show and shouldn't be used.
