I want to take my Nuendo sessions to a REAL Studio her in Portland and
mix thru their console to tape (real reason is I need help mixing cos
I go past the mix every time and also I don't like mixing down inside
Nuendo).. BUT my hardware only has 4 outs.. so this could be easily
rectified w/ a MOTU gadget or something like it right? Who's done it
and how and w/ what? I searched faqs but i'm interested in hearing
from someone who has actually done it.
Thanks in advance.

I've gone the other way around... track using a Pro Tools system at a large
studio and then dump all the tracks to a firewire drive and bring it back to
my project studio for overdubs and mixing using Cubase SX or Nuendo.
If the studio you want to use has a Pro Tools system (or any other DAW),
then all you need to do is to render all your tracks in Nuendo as continuous
files that all start at the same time, and then dump those as wave files
onto CDRs, DVD, or Firewire drive and bring them into the studio. They
just import the files and line them up in their DAW. If they are using a
DAW and a really nice analog console, then they probably have good
multichannel D/A converters that they use when mixing... there shouldn't be
a need for you to bring in your own system.
Also, Nuendo and Cubase SX can record & render using Broadcast Wave files,
so if their DAW supports that, then there is time stamping built into that
format which makes it easier to line things up and you wouldn't necessarily
need to render everything as a complete track that each start at the same
time (although that's probably still the safest way to do it).
Good luck with it!

Consider what kind of gear the "Real Studio" has, to break out your Nuendo
Sessions fro console mixdown. Hopefully a studio that has a full Nuendo setup
and all you need to do is bring along your files...

Wave data on CD or DVD. Just copy your tracks, making certain by bouncing
them, that you have a common starting point on them. Then you transfer to
the studio computer and go about your business.
But, yeah, you could use a couple of different MOTU units, like either the
2408 and do digital transfers (real time) or the 24I/O (real time). If you
want to pay for studio time to do transfers, that is.
Much better/quicker to take the tracks as data.
