I was able, finally this morning, to set up my SVP to work with USB but
haven't yet restored my audio capabilities. There again, I'm sure my
hardware connections are wrong. And I also have my usual problems with hums.

Just for your information, I'm commenting on the previous steps I've taken
below.

SVP won't work in OSX of course but it can be opened and set up there. The
modem-printer doesn't really matter, as long as it downloads the devices in
MIDI setup which it won't in 9.2.2. (It freezes the computer.)

I had to set up the Unitor8 application before this would work. It gives you
the 4 ports in the setup of which I chose 1 and 2 and is pretty good about
setting up the 16 or 32 channels more or less correctly. I haven't yet tried
downloading other 32 channel files to see how they work.

I see no reason not to continue using SVP for the present but may eventually
use Logic.

I'm unsure what you mean by "opened" I could not get SVP 4.22 to
operate under OSX it just craps out. I believe that was the case. I'm
not sure it matters since it communicates with hardware ports via OMS.
OMS does not work in any fashion under OSX.

As long as you have a stable mode to run *something* you can take your
time with the actual migration process...

But, I'm running SVP 4.5. On my computer, the application will open with
all it's information intact in 10.2.6 and will allow you to set it up.
It won't play though till you return to 9.2.2.

The one thing that's still frustrating is the fact that I can't set up
any audio so far either in SVP or anywhere else.

OKay then, I don't understand this, but if it doesn't work the way you
like it, good for you! :-)

This one was never a problem on either platform for me. Who can say why?
