Anyone want to recommend some middle grade brands? Needs to be a 2
channel (stereo) device with combined volume controls, if possible,
balanced inputs and outputs. Probably 4 - 8 outputs. This is for a sound
reinforcement installation.

The Drawmer DA-6 is a nice 6 stereo out DA. It is available as a balanced
device with XLR's, unbalanced with RCA, or fully transformer balanced with
XLR's. It can be made into a 1x12 also

The Radio Systems boxes seem to be reasonable enough.

You want a real DA, or do you want a pressbox? I really do like the
Opamp Labs pressboxes a lot although they tend to be a bit expensive.

And fragile, despite the Haliburton-style case. I've personally
trashed 4 of these things in the last decade, all through normal wear
& tear.

Do they? I've had good luck with the things holding up. If you have some
trashed ones you'd sell for parts, let me know.
