FS: YAMAHA RX-15 DRUM MACHINE
One of the first 12-bit sample-based drum-machines, the RX15 was considered
a highly
modern music instrument back in the early 80's. The 15 onboard sounds can
be played by
using the 12 distinct drum pads or "buttons".
The volume of each sound can be set individually and the sounds can also be
panned
in the stereo field. The "accent" pad can be used to create rhythm patterns
with a more
dynamic feel. Each of the 15 sounds can be independently programmed for
level,
accent and pan.
There is a stereo pair output. The RX-15 can store 100 one-bar patterns and
these can
be chained together form up to 10 songs, with bar divisions of up to 1/192.
The number
of notes, number of bars and bar division can all be independently set.
The RX15 is MIDI compatible, with MIDI IN and OUT.
A 16-character LCD display is used to display information.
The RX-15 features fixed 12-bit PCM samples, although a few can be tuned
(e.g.: hi or
medium). The RX-15 is a breeze to use, especially if programming 32nd or
faster notes
is important to you. Quantization goes down to 1/48th notes before dropping
to the fixed
MIDI clock resolution of 1/192, which makes putting 64th notes in a single
bar tricky. But
it's simple to create and edit a 2-bar 1/32nd note pattern and up the tempo.
