I've heard mostly positive things, but would like to poll the opinions of
"the gang" @ R.M.M.P.

Great drums.......I own a kit, but Kevin Pinson has a LONG way to go at
business practices.
A close friend of mine has been waiting over a year and a half for a kit, he
finally got a kit but it's so messed up and Kevin had the balls to send it
thinking no big deal. Evan, another fellow RMMP drummer got a kit from Kevin
as well and had a horrible experience too.

got a snare from bearing edge that was supposedly brand new (in "mint"
condition)...it was not even CLOSE. it also had a veneer "patch" on oneof
the hoops with very obvious extra seams. the drum did sound good though. i
think you have to SEE what your getting from Bearing Edge. once you've
inspected it, then you're safe.

My take: beautiful aesthetically. Really visually stunning. But, I would
never want to take them out of the house for fear of gig dings. I haven't
played them, but aren't they a Keller maple shell plus a veneer? Impractical
to me, but maybe in 15 or 20 years when I'm old like the rest of the geezers
here. ;-)

I have also heard numerous stories of bad business practice, slow/no ship
time, incorrect orders, etc. That means I'm never ordering a new kit from
Kevin. I would only buy from store stock or used. That's something to
consider as a DSG (drum shop guy).
Good luck,
-DR

what does Keller shell with veneer have to do with it? Spaun is a Keller
with a veneer or lacquer. So are allot of other specialty companies.

he said something like "I haven't played them but aren't they a Keller
shell plus veneer?"; which, paraphrased, means: "I haven't played them,
but I know what to expect, since I've played similar kits before"

and Spaun doesn't use veneers (unless a plastic wrap is a veneer :-),
they just finish with satin/lacquer coatings or wraps.

I'm just saying that they're not exotic shells, which was my first
impression.
