Bill Carrothers was performing with James Moody at the Red Sea Jazz
Festival here in Israel, yesterday and the day before. He didn't quite
fit the style of this performance, but he played very good, very
similar to Keith Jarret's style.
Just wanted to tell you that, since I know you play a lot with him....

Hi Nir,
Wow, one of the first jazz concerts I went to we I was a bit younger
than you (99 years ago!) was Dizzy with Moody.
Thanks, right; I was just in the studio with Carrothers & Bill Stewart
a month or so ago. Carrothers can be very expansive at times, but
there are a lot of more 'inside' players who really appreciate his
creativity. A couple years ago he & I did a gig with harmonica player
Toots Thielemans, & Toots LOVED his playing. A little known tidbit is
that just for a brief period of time, he played with Prince (!) I
think the world of his musicality and astounding inventiveness. I may
be doing some gigs next year with him in France but probably not
Israel. The Moody gig was not really at the Red Sea, but in Tel Aviv,
right?

Hey Jay,
Well, the Moody gig *was* in the Red Sea, in the city Eilat.
I too liked his playing but it didn't quite fit to the style of the
Moody performance....
If you'll happen to be in Israel and do some gigs, do tell ! And maybe
try to convince Carrothers to do some gigs in Israel too.... Did he
like being here? ask him...
