USB and USB 2?

Hi guys,

Can someone explain the advantages of USB2 over USB? Will later USB2 devices (e.g. the Gamepad I've just bought) work in USB ports and vice versa?

the usb2 port has a faster transfer rate. i dont believe there are many backwards compatible accesories, but i could and probably am wrong. O i have a question for u. I bought color for my name. not the glow but the change font color, but it doesnt seem to be showing up. Will this take time for mods to do or did i do something wrong?

USB 1.1 operates at 2 modes, low speed operates at 1.5 Mb/s, Full Speed operates at 12 Mb/s. USB 2.0 operates at 480 Mb/s, also known as 'high speed' USB.

As far as backwards compatibility goes, the devices should operate just fine, but only at the highest supported bandwidth for the port.

I thought that usb2 was very very similar to having a fireware card, it transfers at roughly the same speed too.

usb is similar to firewire in some ways, but theres a huge difference in speed. if i remember right usb is like 12 kbps, while firewire is 480 kbps

serial cables from older units can communicate with usb over adapters. I would change to usb.
