I have tried other suggestions but I am having trouble converting MIDI files to WAV files in order to burn them onto a cd. Suggestions are to try other programs (but after just purchasing the keyboard, it'll be a while before I can buy something more), using mixer software that came with the sound card (I didnt get any) or using a microphone (too bad quality) If anyone can help, I would be greatful

No, you dont open the midi in sound recorder...You play the midi with your midi player and record the sound with sound recoder.
Probably not the best choice, because you must listen to the whole song......slow!

I would suggest Melody Assistant. You can import midi files and export wav files. You cand download a demo @ www.melodyassistant.com.
It's only $15, yet exports will have better quality if you also buy the GOLD sound base.

If you have or use a sequencer like Cakewalk or whatever, you should be able to play the Midi file and simultaneously record audio in stereo onto a spare track through the line in of your soundcard.
This gives you real control over the process and you can then export the recorded audio track to a wave file from within Cakewalk and then burn it to CD

It would be an idea to use one of the yamaha XG synths... no dandy midi soundcard needed, only drawback is the 1 second delay between playing the note and hearing it.
demo version is free for about 100 days.

This latency can be greatly reduced if you have a good soundcard. MIDIMan ones are impressive, although they do not come with on-board sounds.

Well a lot of sugestion below are use full .
but the best midi to wav i tried is Dart CD Recorder 4.1 or ealier
You should be aware that sound depends on the sound card midi sounds.,
But if you can't afford one just download ymaha xg player and install it.
and select it as your midi driver in the program to be able to use the sound.
Good luck.

I've you're using external midi devices and an external mixer device, link the output of your mixer to the sound input of your soundcard and then run cooledit or some other sound recorder to record it (you might have to fiddle around with the volume sliders to get things right)

This is what I do most of the time. Try Cool Edit (or some other recording software) for recording if you cant "bounce" like this for some reason.

using??
