And for a bonus $50 MB, who can tell me why Australia is the only Southern Hemisphere Country to host an Olympic Games?

Because Australia won the host selection process? I know that in 1956 Argentina lost by only 1 point to host the games, otherwise this record would not hold true today. Australia has a much desirable geography and climate. Fewer nations in Africa and South America are actually participating. There is an issue of money with the fact that most southern hemisphere countries are in poverty. Also, most southern hemisphere countries are politically unstable and security would be a huge issue. The "reverse" season's creates a physiologic dificulty for most athletes. Most land and people and athletes are in the northern hemisphere and would have to train differently to "peak" at the right time (I've trained for marathons so I understand how that goes!). Most of the countries in the southern would be in the tropics during the summer and that would just be too opressive for athletes to perform well.

Good answer, but not correct. The correct answer was "Australia is the best country in the world." :)
But for your efforts, I'll still donate the $50MB!
Great Response!
