Is there anyone out there running Windows XP ? I'm currently using 2k Pro and I love it.

Is it worth the upgrade?

I will have to warn you if u are going to install XP... I've been using it for 6 months now and well i had to go back to my loved 2K Pro...

There was a mayor problem with it... My CPU was running at 99% and the explorer was using all of my memories!!!

I went to the micro$oft site and nothing... went to forums... nothing... so I finally gave up and well.... got rid of it... now I have 2K and well everything is running supper fast and no crashes...

Stick with 2K Pro... XP is just not worth it!!!

Tha's just my punny opinion!!!

there is that better

Hey man... What sort of hardware do you have. Have you upgraded from a previous O/S. XP is dead fussy about its hardware list. It chews heaps of resources as well. More than Win2k. If your CPU is running that fast when you open Exploder, I think something is trying to run ast the same time and your PC may not be coping. Make sure you have plenty of grunt in your PC and recent hardware.:) Try a clean install rather than upgrade

IF you have a decent comp geforce 3, 1.4ghz etc then it is great, the graphics are nice and it doesn;t crash often but there are a few compatibility problems, only the fussy ones thogh

ah!!!...

Well could it be that I have an AMD Athlon XP 2.7 with 160Gig HDD 1.5GB mem also a GFORCE 4 with plenty of leg room..!!!!

I don't thinkxso.... I thinx that XP has got some pretty naughty issues with high end systems or could it be My AMD processor... naaaa... I don't think so... i could it??...

John, I use XP Pro and have to say I've been running it for 6 months and without a major hitch. It's a copy disc and I've no probs. My mate did however buy a new computer recently with XP Home Edition amd she's had nothing but trouble, benn returned to PC World half a dozen times!!

Me, I love it!!

Win Xp smokes it. Try to get the Professional version. Games also run a little faster on it. I haven't had to reboot once in over 6 months.

I've said this about a dozen times already - run XPAntiSpy if you're going to run XP.
Search the board for it, I've got info all over the place here already ;)

XP rocks. All the software people are putting all their time into it. Win2K is old news

XP fan. Try the IP over 1394 network if you have the resources; it's awesome. :)

If I can run XP on a 366 Mhz PII then it should fly on a Athlon.
BTW I don't know what all the fuss is about older programs and games not running on it. Everything I have tryed has run fine if not faster on XP.

Hacked copies of XP are most peoples problems.

If you can't buy the ticket...don't take the ride...

I've had a few compatability problems with XP but these have been put right with updated drivers. I'm sticking with it.

The only things that won't run are the ancient DOS-mode graphical programs... I wanted to play Ultima 8 today, but remembered that it won't work on the almost-DOS shell that comes with XP. Everything else just runs faster.

And with it using your processor, that's the "System Idle Process" eating it all! It's designed to do that! It's supposed to make sure your processor is always at 100% to prevent virusses from using the processor without XP knowing about it. Whenever the total processor usage drops below 90%, it triggers a check of all system files to make sure nothing has been tampered with, and if it finds a problem, it restores a backup automatically. It takes a tiny bit longer for XP to allocate processor usage to programs when you first run them though.

XP = :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup: (4/5)

XP Pro is the best out of the XP range and i was fortunate enough to get a burnt copy

but, like Si said, driver compatibility is the problem :P
