:confused2
My wife and I were just checking out some audiobooks on eBay, and came across an auction for an MP3CD. Can anyone explain what that is? It's not just some MP3 files on a CD, is it? Does one need a special player to experience this technology? Thanks in advance...

Indeed it's just a CD with MP3 tracks. Nowadays, there's hardly cassette tape players, those audio books are going high-tech too with MP3. (audio book = you don't need to to read the book, but it's narrated on tapes / CD audio / CD MP3).
To be able to listen to the MP3CD, you'll need a CD player with MP3 capability. MP3 player is beginning to be the de facto player today for any CD or DVD player.
Here in Asia, you can get a brand new home DVD player with MP3 capability for less than S$100 (US$57)!!! It's cheaper to buy a new player than to repair the old ones... I bought 3 DVD players over the last 2 years, and the last one can read CDR/CDRW/Picture CD/ DVD+/- R/RW, MP3 and WMA....it's amazing how fast those features are moving fast for us to catch up......

it is just a cd with hundreds of mp3's as stated above, i actually did a deal or two and ended up with a good few 'single artist mp3 - cd's' that means you can normally fit every album an artist ever made on one cd, (except some thats done hundreds of albums like elvis or status quo lol) I used to do karaoke and had a dvd player hooked up with a few hundred songs on one cd just to play between singers. worked a treat.
