Drums from Tab, or other source?

Any hints on how to sequence MIDI drums from drum tabs, or sheet music?
Im having a hard time even finding sheet music for heavy metal drums.

Not being a drummer, I think I would find it harder to sequence drums from Tab than just sitting down and figuring out what's going on...I sit down with paper and pen and map out the song, and try and find the common patterns that I can cut and paste..Often I'll start with the cymbals(highhats and ride) so that I have something to build on, and work from there...

As a bassist, I often sequence my bass lines. I can then print out sheet music or tab for rehearsals or friends. I find it easier to then sequence drums using the bass line and meter map as a guide.

If your just trying to get the drum track to play along with.. you can just download a full midi file, put it into most any sequencing software, and shut off all except for the drums... you can then do whatever you want with it.


at least thats the solution i came up with when looking to make drum tracks for cover songs :)
