how long do you spend wandering around in this site? tonight i have spent nearly two hours. last night i had to force myself not to go on. once i am on i have difficulty getting off!
of course, this site leads me to others too... so it goes on.
no more tv, no more social life, much less sleep, never mind other things.
aaaaaaaaaaaaah. i am addicted to midibuddy.

It seems Si had a similar problem... (http://board.midibuddy.net/t9226.html)

Nothing wrong in that Tammy, as long as you're having fun!

I think I have been on MIDIBuddy more in school today than in my classes!

ZelRiptha

BTW, if it's not evident, I surf here on and off all day at work... :o

Don't tell... :)

Zandro

I shouldn't be on right now either. If my math teacher catches me typing this instead of taking the practice HSEE, he'll kill me.

ZelRiptha
01-16-2004, 01:03 PM
Gosh, do you have a laptop at school or something?

*feels old*

:)

Zandro

Nah, he brought us to the library's computer lab to take an online version. I only scored a C.

ZelRiptha
01-16-2004, 01:39 PM
What is an "HSEE"?

Zandro
01-16-2004, 01:44 PM
High School Exit Exam. I will take my first stab at it in the beginning of February.

ZelRiptha
01-16-2004, 01:51 PM
Ahh.. sounds intimidating. Is it hard? Is it required to graduate then? (thus the name...)?

Schooltime surfage... must be nice! :)

I like beer in my wheaties for breakfast. MMMM

Is it hard? Is it required to graduate then?

It is not too hard, but I am freaked out by the Language Arts essay portion. I have NEVER been able to compile an essay worth reading. :( The only reason I am passing English with a B is because of how much the grade is leaned toward vocabulary. Heh, back in the fourth grade, I scored a 12+ grade reading level, but I have never gotten interested in reading. Yes, it is required to graduate, but it's not study-or-die. The Math portion of the exam goes up to simple geometry; no trig, no calculus- .. no calculators. Does McDonalds Sell Burgers and Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally is all I really need to remember, I hope.

Just proof of my geekdom... I LIVED for those standardized tests... thought they were the most fun part of school!

if there's anyone here who can attest to addictive properties in MB... its.. ummm.. SI! (http://board.midibuddy.net/vbstats.php?action=topposters) Yeah... Si... I don't have a problem... can quit anytime... yeah...

ZelRiptha

Arr, I Think you're right that lots of reading makes for better writing. Aren't there any subjects that interest you enough to read about? Or types of literature? It's not a crisis situation, but if you can get used to and enjoy reading, it can make many things in your life (especially your education) easier.

Heh, I'd almost forgotten about PEMDAS. (Order of operations, correct?) But what is Does McDonald's Sell Burgers?

But it sounds like you'll do fine. :)

Zandro
01-17-2004, 12:16 AM
what is Does McDonald's Sell Burgers?

Well, something like that, but it is the order of operations for division. Divide, Multiply, Subtract, Bring down. It is an old method, but it works for me.

i love this site. thats the nice thing about this addiction. i think most addicts hate what they do, but this... this is a good addiction. the only bill i ring up, is a huge telephone bill. i dont go out, i make a good mom. i make a good girlfriend - barefoot and at the computer.
hmmm i feel a country song coming up. no i dont, i dont particularly like country... how about a blues song...

i dont go out no more
just hang around at home (repeat)
yeah i said (repeat as above)
uhum
cos i got those good ole midi buddy blues.......

hmmmmmmmmm
i am sure a lotofya can write better blues lyrics than those
how about a lyrics competition for those midibuddy blues?

But, now Jeanie are you certain you don't have any other addictions (http://www.tagmag.com/features/sex_addict_quiz.html)? :smart:

me..i'm so addicted to MB..like most of em i came for the midis to use as ringtones and i got most of em..so i told myself 'no more MB' cuz there was a time i spent at least 90minutes a day here..but well, what then is an addiction if i managed to stop myself?
woohooo!! it's been just a year now and i'm still here!!!

saxmidiman

You're only 90 minutes a day?!

That's not a problem.

Come to think of it, I wonder how much time Jeanniesing spends on here?

How much time a day does it take before it becomes a problem?
:(

Jeanie i thought you said you were a teacher. How do teachers get homework?
I thought only students(like us) get loads of homework, the pressure exerted by an elephant would pale away in front of which we get.

You wouldn't beleive the amount of work a teacher has. I teach guitar and the amount of work per student can be pretty amazing. Good teachers must always find new things and new ways to instruct. Midibuddy is our way to get away from the hassles of our work. By the way, how's your sequencing project going with the Pink Floyd fanatic Jeanie.

jeaniesing
02-21-2004, 11:32 AM
he's switched some gears and is doing an original now.... discovering the wonders of MIDI :)

saxmidiman
02-21-2004, 12:24 PM
Yeah I think that's a good idea. It's hard enough to do the initial work just on guitar, let alone the synth, drums and other stuff. I remember starting midi back in 1984 with an old Apple 2+ doing Rush. It was horrible.

Can we make your student a MB addict?

It could be fun. We'll eventually have to pair him up with Black Kat and really torment him.

Geez yea i ain't the worst here but it was once an addiction...with the tonnes of homework i had to do i still spent loadsa time here...
i managed to control the addiction though hehe..and the secret is simple - time constrain...just throw it in and voila, look at me, i come here barely once a week!!! but i still can't stop once i start posting....

But you only have 8 posts... did you spam or something and get banned and had to start over?

I am obvioulsy not a midibuddy addict. I have been addicted in other forums, though. I would literally sit for hours going into every topic in every forum over and over on this one message board. I was the top poster for a while, but then I got grounded, and I fell greatly behind....My current addiction is neopets (http://www.neopets.com/refer.phtml?username=tamer_takato_matsuda)...

Sorry can't do.

I'm addicted.

So bad I have no money to fly down. I don't make any more dough cause I'm stuck on this thread.

My son just turned three just a few weeks ago. Great age. Can't get addicted to stuff at that age. Oooh the times I can remember. The freedom to leave the keyboard and breathe fresh air and.... oh crap, the boss is coming I got to sign off.

tammy
03-01-2004, 01:15 PM
yup 4 is a great age now. he communicates (non stop)....
we had a great beach party. fishing nets for the kids.
and food for everyone.
i understand the dough part... sticky business. i wish i was stuck in the dough rather than on this thread though!
sigh.
