rap is amazing: think about those artists who have to memorize tons of lyrics and spit them out rhythmically, and audibly
rock: sometimes lyrics are just screamed out, indecipherably

rap usually has poor accompanying music
but then most rock's music is so extremely monotonous and repetitious, it's even worse than no music at all

now good rap and good rock: that's all which counts.
In short, genre is meaninless, it can be anything: folk, blues, jazz, classical, country, heavy metal ...

but clearly, there's good and bad music

I think pop is still around, but in less numbers because of the whole "Boy Band Blowout" that happened when like all of the boy bands broke up because nobody wanted to hear a group of no-talent ass clowns prancing around singing horrible music. But just look at TRL, everything on their is pretty much pop even 50-cent is on TRL and as much as you thugs wanna deny it, he's POP-rap, he raps **** that even your mom listens to.

About rock getting no recognition: Rock needs no recognition. We do not care about who listens to Rock and who knows about Rock and we do not give a **** about Fame. Fame is not what fuels Rock. one thing that bugs me tho is rap takes no talent. sure i guess you have to have a nice rapping voice (like you cant have a squeeky nerd voice i guess) and be able to talk pretty fast. other than that though? takes no talent. no instruments, you dont have to come up with a tune or anything. not even the words, you can hire somebody to do that.

Rock is my favorite.

Each style has its own unique potential. But just like with rock, you have a plethora of terrible rap artists who aren't very clever really and are really limited on their lyrical sense. It will get better with time, or die out.

I am a rock fanatic, so obviously, rock. I can't stand rap, music should go back to the good old days when the songs were about love and life, not "cappin' some gangsta in da ass' ". Rap will lead to the downfall of music if it isnt stopped. What is it teaching us? Personally I think both rock and rap have gone down the ****hole and made the (almost) permanent pop scene. Neither genre has any real integrity left that hasn't been sold and capitolized.:borg:
Holding the exception of a few bands (Jet) which is truely reminiscent of classic rock, and though i'm bashing it doesn't mean i don't like it, i like some new acts, just not as much as the old and i like more underground rap

a good deal of rap is a little too r&b'ish, but it's still evolving. rock is great, but when you look at say 60's rock and 2004 rock.. there's a noticible difference. rock is likelier to appeal to a broader spectrum of listeners because the genre is more diverse than rap.

Rap is (mostly) a bass line repeated over and over again thru the whole song with some drums in the background and some idiot reciting how rich he is or how all the girls love him.

Rap and crap go together. I think rap will eventually die a natural death cuz I dont think people will listen to the same man blabber how rich he is over and over again.

Rock music does require a good amount of skill to play the guitars and drums and there is something called music in most rock songs.

Rock has survived longer than rap and is still very much alive and rap is relatively new compared to rock music. So no question of "bowing down to Rap Music"
