the "coolness" can be caused by melody or by instrument. if you don't use original synth all your music will sound standard:-/

FL Studio Fruityloops Edition & Producer Edition both feature Plucked!, a plucked strings synth and other string plugins. Check out http://www.etcetera.co.uk/products/TWV066.shtml for starters. This is very easy to use. Just add a channel, drag a generator over to the channel, then open piano roll to put the notes in.

Its a 130meg VST plugin & got all the strings you'll need + more.
Quite expensive though, but worth every penny.
