lol, I love free stuff

Ow ya, those sample files really suck! They are purposely put there by the music industries i think, so that people will get annoyed and download songs less... thats what i think, i could be wrong..

soulseek is much better
KaZaA is a great P2P although i found a little problem with it. I've found that the program actually downloads porn ad's in the background (even the lite version) and pop's them up on your PC even 5 mins or so.
And this isn't from me downloading porn either (not that i'm ashamed of it :smart: ) as i don't get any porn of KaZaA whatsoever. And guess what, when i unstalled KaZaA the pop up's disappear!
I myself don't use KaZaA it was something for my sisters (something a little less technical) so i found a P2P called Ares, which is equally as good as KaZaA (if not better). If you fancy a look yourself search for it on CNET Downloads (www.download.com)

Being a mamber of this board I see a lot of midi files get posted on here from newer bands. Sometimes I see stuff that people have requested that I play at gigs, I use Kazaa to download the song that I'm learning so I can hear how it goes then delet it off once it's in my set list, Don't quite know the legalities of that exercise. Kinda like demo software. Hey if I like a band or set of songs I tend to get the CD anyways. I'm a big fan of album cover art and ya don't get that from Kazaa!!

LimeWire works really good for getting songs, and there's none of those high squealing files.

Please tell me I did not hear someone say that Bit Torrent was the next big thing... Yes--- it may have a vast range of files for download... but there are three reasons why not to get it....
1.) The Interface is Awful
2.) It runs much slower than Kazaa Lite (which was the best
until Kazaa Reg. shut it down -- now Kz Lite is an
illegal download too!!!!)
3.) No sort of messaging, limited control, poor performance
in completing multiple, simultaneous downloads.
4.) The Future is TheFreenetProject (if they'd get it off the
ground)
5.) BIT TORRENT IS ALL AROUND BAD
But anyway, yes Kazaa Lite has less Spyware, but you have to search hard for a free version of K Lite or K++ these days, because Kazaa the real version sued them for copyright infringement (ironic isn't it).
Also, think that the best system ever was Audiogalaxy.... very friendly interface, a pleasure to deal with (if there is such a program in computing), and easy to find music.

Also, for those of you who still may not know, the high squealing files you find on all downloading sources (though particularly Kazaa and Kazaa Lite) are files strategically placed by the RIAA. Some say that by downloading these files, immediate spyware is traced that can track you for the RIAA to bag easily. However, this is not the case. These are simply files with some or most of the song (like a sample file) that are there to tease users and dispell file sharing by making it too much of an effort.
An easy way to detect these "noise" files (sound wave interference is the squealing -- like constant feedback coming out of your speakers instead of going in) if you have dial-up (like I do --- proceed feeling sorry for me) is to pay attention to the DL Rate. My 56k typically gets about 4-6 Kb/s, usually 3.5-5 Kb/s. If you notice that you have dial-up and your total is hitting 9-20 Kb/s constantly and/or rising (not just if it spikes for 2 seconds -- that just means another user has connected to you) then you might as well just cancel the DL right there and start searching again, because you have a noise file. Hope this answers any question remaining and helps any remaining dial-up users.

kazaa and kazaa lite are absollutely garbage for downloading mp3 because most of the mp3 files are nothing but a static sounds but kazaa lite is great for downloading movies.

well for me it doesn't matter what program i use to download the files coz 56k tend to get the same speed with any p2p programs
