In an ideal world you'd be best to have one of each, they are both superb guitars.

I wouldn't go near anything other than proper U.S.A. made Strats and Teles though.

I reckon the tele has a thinner sound , real hard wody type of sound where the strat is just as clean, but softer sounding, but thats only my opinion

I don't know about better... I believe that's just your personal taste, they are two distinctly sounding guitars. I have a few of both and I wouldn't necessarily say all my Strats are better than the Tele's and I also can't say Strats sound one way and Tele's sound this way either they can vary quite a bit depending on the model and the year they were made.

i don't really think you can compare guitars. I think the best way is to just look at the style of music you want to play and choose your guitar from there. That way you have a much better chance of getting the sound you want. I personally like the sound of a tele - a little more bitey than a strat.
