Is there any good reason for the 3,000 character limit on PM's?.

I'm trying to discuss some fairly complex issues with someone and I keep running up against this limit - which means I either have to cut things (which I don't really want to do) or split the reply.

It's painful, I agree. I don't know whether it is a hard limitation. Perhaps an Admin can comment?

Maybe you should get IM if you want to have a long convo?

You can also send a normal email to someone by clicking the email button under their profile.

Normally, that could be one solution, but I'm checking out certain things and need to refer to notes, websites, etc., and that's more difficult to do 'realtime'.

Yes - I do understand that - but I'd rather keep the whole thing in one place. 3,000 characters is not that high a figue and I was curious to know why it was so low. In fact, I think this is the only board I frequent where there is any limit on the sixe of PM's.

You could try sending a PM to the great tavenger5 (site admin) and ask him about it. I'm sure he'd know. :)
